About Your TeacherJoey Miles is an Ashtanga Yoga teacher (KPJAYI Authorised Level 2) teaching classes in Leeds and Hebden Bridge, as well as workshops and retreats in the UK & abroad. He has a depth of knowledge that is hard to surpass, and when you combine this with a compassionate and broad influenced approach you know you have a teacher that can give you great insights into this wonderful practice.
This is very important! Many of the postures in the intermediate series are extremely challenging. Please don’t choose this non-linear version of the course if your motivation is purely to cherry-pick the postures you like. Many of the later postures require the strength and stability gained whilst practising the earlier postures. That is not to say you have to be able to do every single posture perfectly; we need to respect our individuality but also at the same recognise when we’re not ready for something. Always seek out a physical teacher if you’re in any doubt.
The course contains 180 Videos spread over 33 Lessons. Everything you need to know in order to have a more informed and deeper practice. Each posture is broken down with videos on the vinyasa, the detail and homework if necessary.
This is the Non-linear version of the course which means you can jump around the lessons (we still do recommend the standard version because it gives you time to work through the homework and integrate the ideas into your practice). If you go for this version you are your own manager.
As with all our courses, there’s no time limit to your access so you don’t have to push forward. You’re invited to consolidate on where you are, take a break whenever you need to or even return to it several years later.
You should have a good foundation in the Ashtanga Primary Series Postures, have a regular practice and be free from any major injuries. You’ll get the most out of this course if you’re compassionate to your body and possess an inquiring mind that’s open to exploring variations.
The postures in the Ashtanga Intermediate Series can be extremely challenging, so you may need to spend several weeks or months even on the same posture. By no means is the idea that you race through the postures. Just remember to take it slow; there’s no need to progress to a new posture each week. Go at the speed that’s right for you and also stop when you feel you’ve met your potential at this time.
